The Paralegal is responsible for managing dockets for multiple district courts, handling substantial caseload of approximately 1,000 cases. Key responsibilities include preparing and filing legal documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and attending virtual and in-person docket proceedings with attorneys when necessary. They will also collaborate closely with clients, courts, and team members to ensure smooth case management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses excellent time management skills, and is eager to take on challenges. While previous legal experience is a plus, it is not required.

Position Details:

• Type of Position: Full Time/Temp-to-Hire
• FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
• Salary: $37,440/$18 per hour
• Hours : 8:00am-5:00pm

Essential Functions:

1. Manage the prosecution of approximately 1,000 tax cases pending in three specific Harris County district courts assigned to the Legal/Admin Assistant by the litigation attorney.

2. Monitor the service status of each defendant, and secure proper service on all defendants sufficient to obtain a valid and enforceable final judgment in the proceeding

3. Prepare all pleadings necessary to obtain a valid and enforceable final judgment in the proceedings.

4. Correspond, discuss with or meet with taxpayers and defendants as necessary to prosecute such cases and collect the delinquent taxes and fees which are the subject of the suit

5. Obtain a trial setting under the procedures established by the court.

6. Draft a final judgment for submission to the court.

7. Maintain close communication with the clerks of the courts to facilitate the setting and resolution of cases.

8. Attend virtual and in-person trial of hearings in each matter as requested by the litigation attorney.

9. Perform other duties assigned by the litigation attorney.

10. All other duties assigned.

Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
