Grants Manager

Location: Buffalo, NY (hybrid option)

Organization: Habitat for Humanity Buffalo

Status: Full-time/Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm

Position Overview: Habitat for Humanity Buffalo is seeking a skilled and proactive Grants Manager to lead and manage the organization’s grant portfolio. This role is central to securing funding that drives our mission forward and encompasses everything grant related, from prospecting and drafting applications to drawdowns, progress reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in grant writing and administration, a collaborative mindset, and exceptional organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

Grant Strategy & Execution

  • Prospecting for new corporate, private foundation, and government grant opportunities.
  • Develop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals aligned with organizational goals.
  • Administer the full grant lifecycle, including tracking deadlines and deliverables.
  • Keep current on Habitat for Humanity International programs, practices, guidance, and funding opportunities.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with internal departments to identify funding needs and gather data for reporting.
  • Provide regular updates both internally and externally on the status of grants.
  • Complete quarterly reports necessary to maintain good standing with Habitat for Humanity International.
  • Represent Habitat Buffalo at public events and donor functions as needed.

Data & Compliance Management

  • Maintain complete and accurate physical and electronic grant files.
  • Ensure all grant-funded projects meet compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee drawdown and documentation of all grant-funded project expenditures.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Support development department efforts, including messaging and event logistics.
  • Conduct organizational research to enhance outreach and donor strategies.
  • Attend trainings provided by Habitat International, Habitat NYS, and grantors.
  • Assist the Director of Development & Communications and Executive Director as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Grant Writing Expertise: At least 3 years of proven experience in grant writing and administration.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Communication: Excellent writing and presentation skills; ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Experience in communications or public relations, particularly for donor and/or public engagement.
  • CRM Experience: Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Experience with Asana or other project management software.
  • Event planning background, especially for fundraising or community events.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or personal volunteer experience
