Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Location: Hackensack, NJ
Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
Unit: Breast Center
Schedule: Rotating weekends every couple of months
Compensation: $60 an hour (Negotiable based on experience)
Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality mammographic examinations in accordance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA regulations. This role also assists with additional diagnostic procedures and ensures patient-centered care in a professional and compassionate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic and screening mammograms for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
Assist with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other image-guided breast procedures.
Perform imaging for breast needle localizations and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.
Support procedures involving ultrasound guidance.
Operate mammography equipment and select technical factors based on individual patient needs.
Ensure films are properly marked with patient identifiers, laterality, and technologist initials.
Develop exposed x-ray film using proper processing techniques.
Complete patient requisitions and record procedural details accurately.
Conduct quality control procedures including:
Phantom imaging
Darkroom fog testing
Screen-film contact testing
Repeat analysis
Compression tests
Screen and processor cleanliness
Provide Breast Self-Exam (BSE) instruction and other pre/post-procedure education.
Prepare imaging cases, review charts and films, and assist in data tracking for follow-ups, biopsies, and ultrasound exams.
Maintain documentation for quality assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Communicate effectively and compassionately, addressing specific patient needs including language, age, cultural background, or impairments.
Support the Breast Center team with various administrative or clinical tasks as assigned.
Uphold all organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a licensed Mammography Technologist required.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
Certifications & Licensure:
ARRT certification required.
Mammography certification (ARRT) must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment.
Active Diagnostic Radiography License required.
