Job Description

Senior Project Manager – Civil & Underground Utilities Construction

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, budgeting, and coordinating civil and underground utilities, environmental, remediation, and sitework construction projects. This role involves hands-on management throughout all project phases—from pre-construction through closeout—ensuring schedules, budgets, and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily construction activities in collaboration with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Engineers.
  • Ensure pre-planning is completed before work begins, including safety documentation, scheduling, and permit procurement.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and execute all required subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, cost projections, and change order management.
  • Track and manage project documentation such as JHAs, test reports, incident reports, and progress photos.
  • Monitor project financials, maintaining profitability and proactively addressing budget variances.
  • Facilitate client communication, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for future business.
  • Conduct safety inspections and support the development and enforcement of site-specific safety plans.
  • Provide leadership across internal project teams and subcontractor networks.
  • Support business development through client meetings, bid preparation, and scope reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field strongly preferred)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Expertise in construction project management, budgeting, and vendor negotiations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and construction software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines
