Job Description

Director of Supply Chain – Aerospace

The Director of Supply Chain will lead global operations spanning procurement, planning, logistics, inventory, and supplier performance across multiple sites. This role ensures compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, ITAR), while driving efficiency, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sourcing, procurement, planning, logistics, and inventory across domestic and international sites.
  • Lead and develop teams in Purchasing, Planning, and Inventory Control.
  • Develop supply chain strategies to reduce lead times, ensure compliance, and improve performance.
  • Manage supplier selection, negotiation, and compliance with AS9100 standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to manage long-lead items and support timely product launches.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels (including VMI/consignment) to meet customer demand.
  • Leverage ERP/MRP systems (Global Shop Solutions or Epicor preferred) for accurate BOMs and cost control.
  • Ensure export/import and quality compliance (ITAR, DFARS, FAA).
  • Lead continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and value stream mapping.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and support ESG sourcing initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance on budgets, cost savings, and capital planning.
  • Support supplier quality and corrective action efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA or APICS/CPIM/CSCP preferred.
  • 10+ years of supply chain leadership in aerospace or defense.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, and aerospace compliance.
  • Experience with machined parts, metal fabrications, and precision assemblies.
  • ERP/MRP proficiency (Global Shop Solutions or Epicor); ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Proven success in global supplier management, cost reduction, and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
